Geoffrey Howard Ballard, born 2 July 1935 at 52 Wickham Road, Brockley, SE London, died on 20 September 2017 at his BUPA Nursing Home, Westrow Road, SOUTHAMPTON, aged 82 years. He died of Parkinson’s Disease. He was married three times and had two children from his first wife Daphne Margaret Ballard (nee Fryett), born 12 Dec 1935, of South Street, Epsom Surrey. Geoffrey won the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery during his 30 year policing career with Hampshire Constabulary. His children are Julie Ballard, born 18 May 1968 in Southampton, and Stephen Charles Ballard, born 25 Dec 1960, in Southampton. Julie has two children: Samuel Aaron BOON, born 29 May 2004 in Southampton, and Alexander Benjamin Ballard BOON (known to everyone as Benjamin), born 2 March 2009 in Southampton. Julie’s husband is Marc Boon (from Den Bosch, south Holland), born 15 January 1969. Julie spent most of her working life as a journalist and press and public relations officer, including Managing Press and Public Relations for the Police Federation of England and Wales for more than a decade in Surrey. She was also a local journalist on the Southampton Advertiser and Southern Daily Echo (Southern Newspapers plc) in the early 1990s.
